All My Sons
by Noël Coward
Guest Directed by Joanna Weir Ouston, from Oxford School of Drama, UK
July 2016
Elements Theatre Company presented Arthur Miller’s Award-winning All My Sons. In post-World War II America, the return of a family friend starts a string of events, and unwittingly leads the Kellers—a family crippled by loss, denial, and secrets—to exposure and painful consequences.
Directed by Joanna Weir Ouston, teacher and director at the Oxford School of Drama, and previously at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London—two of the UK’s leading professional theatre schools.
“I’ve recently viewed All My Sons directed by Joanna Weir Ouston at the Elements Theater company in Orleans MA and I must say… I was impressed. As a feature film director, I lean toward appreciating the subtleties of great acting, especially when the performances support a story of great import. The cast of All My Sons delivered fantastic, believable, performances under the guidance of their quietly powerful director, Joanna.
It should have been no surprise to me that All My Sons wold be such a powerful story, Arthur Miller was a master playwright, penning such greats as “Death of a Salesman” and “The Crucible”. However, even the most powerful story can be stripped of its beauty if delivered poorly.
Thankfully, the Elements Theater has assembled the fantastic combination of great writing, directing, and performing to allow for a powerful night at the theater.”—Jedidiah Burdick, President, Votary Media Company
